Toby- Thank you for your thoughtless comments. I wrote the article
that you
are speaking of. Apparently you know nothing about the literary world,
editors,
or publishing. Lets review:
1. Publishers have all the controls, not the writers(unless you are
Stephen King)
2. The word editor means; to edit, change, correct, revise. This
means that when
a person submits an article to a magazine(like I did) the writer gives
the editor
permission to edit the article as he sees fit to best fit the reading
audience, and
therefore sell the most copies, which benefit the advertisers. Its
about money.
3. The reason I wrote the article in the first place, was to give
the reading audience at GRM an introduction to these great cars, and
in doing so, educate
the unaware on why these cars have become somewhat obscure.
4. For purists like you, I profusely apologize for not going into
great detail
about the various variations on the different carburetors. An SU is a
licensed
design for carburetors. If you got the facts, you would know that the
SU design
was licensed and manufactured by several companies, i.e. Stromberg,
Zenith,
Hitachi, to name a few.
5. I have a 69 2000 that I am in the process of restoring. Like you
I depend
on the people who comprise the list to provide me with correct
information.
As you know, over a period of 30+years, some of it gets lost in the
translation.
If it wasnt for people like Tom Walter, Gordon Glasgow, Micheal Carion
and
Dan Garrison, I would have to rely on old inacurate manuals.
Toby- I hope this clears up any confusion you may have had regarding
the
integrity of the article, and any SU or wheel details you had.
Your fellow list member,
Tom Householder
