List,
I was driving back from the autocross races Spokane, heading
east on I-90 right about at the Idaho and Washington border.
I see two people walking down the side of the freeway and I get
ready to pull over and see if they need help. Well at 75 MPH an
cars behind me I couldn't do it. Then of to the side of the road I
see a 66' 1600 pulled over, so now I have to go back and help.
I get of the Freeway and double back until I find them again and
pulled over to offer help. The owner tells me he has blown oil all
over the place. I offer to give him a ride or use the cell phone and
he refuses. I asked him if he needs some help fixing it and he tells
me its a 2000 and go ahead and take a look. I drive down the road
to where the oils slick stops and the car is. As I open the hood I
notice it is a L20B conversion. I was kind of bummed until I looked
around and it was nicely done. It looked like the oil was coming from
somewhere around the oil pump. Externally mounted on the L20
and I realized there was nothing I could do.
I also figure something out today. It doesn't matter how much horsepower
you have if you can't get it to the ground it doesn't do you any good.
My buddies turbo/ nitrous / racing tired autocross Sirocco wasn't any
faster the a stock Nissan Sentra SE-R with race radials. I also did see
a Nissan SR20DE powered Triumph GT6.
