I need to add a little info . A while back, I was out driving and when I went
to start up after a short stop, the car was dead. Wouldn't start, nothing
except the hord worked. Got a lot of advice saying the ammeter acted as a fuse
and burned up. Bypassed the ammeter, added a fusible link to get it going.
Looked for a short and found nothing. Checked all the ground connections and
cleaned them up. Car ran fine for a few weeks until the current problem with
the charging. Will start with a jump, but not charging. Pull the lights switch
and RPM's drop, lights don't work. Not enough in the battery to power anything.
Usually, if the alternater is working, you can disconnect the battery and the
car will run off the alternator. Not the case here.
Thanks for your help!!
