Let me put my thinking cap on, between now and next week, and I'm sure I
can think of some more questions, if you are willing to ask them :-)

> Series??) transmissions.

Hmmm.... well, my best understanding is that the 245 is the 320i 'box, and the
235 is the 2002 / JH 'box.

Dunno which one is the Elite/Eclat 'box. It could very well be, that it is the
265.

I kinda like the 235/5, because the JH 'box should be:
1) cheap
2) pretty darn close ratios
3) strong, because it was also used on the turbo 2002, among other 2002s.
4) 5th is 1:1 .... lower driveline losses in top gear. This is rare, and
kinda cool!

The JH (235/5) Getrag ratios are:
3.37 2.16 1.58 1.24 1.00
OK, Close Ratio Ford 3-rail fans, note that 2nd-5th of this 235/5 'box are
considerably tighter, than CR 3-rail 1st-4th.

Among the 320i 'boxes, the 245/10 which is the Euro close ratio option 5 speed
is the desireable one, I would think. Its ratios are:
3.76 2.32 1.61 1.23 1.00
