On the subject of canted six cylinder triumph engines, the 2000/2500 range
of saloons all had their engine canted over 6 (?) degrees to allow
adequate clearance of the alternator on the battery tray. Or some obscure
reason like that.
The clutch throwout arrangement is different on the saloons as well, and the
mainshaft is only 1 inch instead of 1.25 inch used on TR2/3/4/5/6. You can use
the box in a TR if you change to a 2000/2500 clutch driven plate. (also
the 2000/2500 clutch cover will fit TRs if you are short of cash--I have
one on my TR4a).
Dunno about the GT6 connection...
