I had an interesting weekend - picked up my newly purchased
Sunbeam Tiger in southern CA on Saturday and helped my friend
exchange engines in his Cadillac limo on Sunday. He had his
landlord remove and replace the engine using a backhoe (!)
I would not reccomend this method to those thinking of trying
it =:-O
Anyway, my friend lives in the middle of what could be politely
called a "storage" yard. After talking to the landlord for
awhile, he showed me a car that he wanted to get rid of. He
said it was a '68 Austin Healey Sprite with low mileage. He
was willing to sell it for $200 if I hauled it out of there.
I dont know much about these cars, but it would definitely be
a project. It has been sitting partially disassembled for years
(indoors). The body parts seem to all be there as well as the
engine and running gear. It has some kind of aftermarket alloy
wheels, some on and some off the car. No seats or interior, but
the top frame is there along with the gages. He doesnt want to
haggle over it - he just wants someone who is interested in the
car as it is. It is located in Ben Lomond, CA.
He also had some body parts he was loading into his dumptruck for
the scrapyard. He told me they were from a Jensen Healy, and that
he had already taken the rest of the car to the dump since they
are "worthless". He let me have the parts gratis. They are:
2 doors (I think they have glass, etc.)
trunklid
bumper (says Jensen on it)
all parts look to be in pretty good used condition
I will give these parts to the first person who comes over to my
house and takes them ALL away!
