I can think of one another reason for buying through a local parts place
that deals with Moss, VB or other major suppliers. You might be able to
look at the parts (or similar parts) before ordering. I'm glad I was
able to look over samples of the side view mirrors I ordered for the
snake from Moss. I wasn't able to look at the door latches (MG TF type)
I ordered from Moss before hand. The ones I got were not of as good a
quality as the originals. A lot of Brit car repo stuff is of poor
quality and being able to look over samples may be worth more than
getting a better price. Of course if you can get a better price too...

As for discounts, no reason to feel guilty about getting a better deal.
Many places will give you discount just for asking. When I buy parts I
usually ask the counter guy if they give discounts to Shelby club
members. It's almost always good for 10% or more. No one has ever ask
me to prove my membership. I doubt they even cared.
