The choke cable comes up through the choke linkage on the carbs.
The inner cable
continues upward to the hole in the arm extending from the
u-shaped holder. Now
comes the good part: you also need the part to fix the inner part
of the cable to this
hole. It looks like a small cylinder with an outside diameter
equal to the size of the
hole through which it fits. It has two holes drilled into it: one
along the longitudinal
axis. This one is threaded and there is a little bolt that fits
into it. The other one is
perpendicular to it and the inner cable goes through it. 
There is an illustration of this setup in the Haynes or Bentley
manual (I think)
