You might look at the mechanical brake switch that comes on the late Land Rover series IIA and series III with power brakes. They are smallish. On a Land ROver they mount on the upper part of the peddel assembly housing and are adjusted so that the top part (above the pivot) part of the brake peddel pushes against the switch.
