To Chris Ball: In fact Canadian importers can get the annex codes on mixed
shipments but the process is tedious and a little costly.

To Will Zehring: If you are getting the work done in Canada you may wish to
file for a refund of Canadian duties paid if you intend to return the car to
the US . Be sure to file an E-15 form on leaving Canada listing the parts you
paid duty on...bring your receipt for duties paid on original importation of
the
goods to Canada. If you are a US resident then you can also get the GST back.

If you do get the car repaired in Canada but are returning it to the States,
you are liable for US duties on the repairs and parts. Even though you bought
the parts in the US, you are liable for duties on all foreign origin parts
unless you are the original importer to the US. YES, this means that duty
could be paid several times on the same parts.
