The recent talk about GT6 rotaflex couplings reminded me of my brothers
'72 GT6 (OD, rotaflex) and a question:
Do any other owners of the overdrive + rotaflex combination experience a
surge when switching in the overdrive in 3rd or 4th? It can be quite
intense and is different from the usual jolt I've experienced in our other
overdriven cars (TR6, TR4, Spitfire 1500, Dolomite 1500).

I always put it down to the rotaflexes 'winding up'. Would be interested
in any other GT6 owners experiences.

The GT6 was one of the best bargains I've found. I bought it in '89 for
fifty quid from a guy who wanted it out of his garage to make way for a VW
beetle. We towed it home changed the plugs and welded up the more obvious
holes before I passed it on to brother to use as his everyday car. Over
the years it's been through various engine combinations. A 2.5 from a
triumph 2500TC saloon was used for a while. As was the 2.5 block and GT6
2.0 head together when our serviceable engine supply was low. The
Stromberg 150CD GT6 carbs didn't seem up to supplying the 2.5 so it's now back
on the original rebuilt 2.0 (much smoother anyway).
