There are two types of boot covers for the 1971 on Spitfires (Mark, they're all
the same, aren't they, at least in fit?): One, as you describes, covers the
folded top on sunny days. The other, and it sounds like this is what you have,
covers the folded top and frame when the factory hardtop is
installed. The covers seem to turn up often enough at autojumbles; I don't know
about new/repro availability. Funny, when you don't buy stuff from
companies for a while, they eventually stop sending catalogues!
