Well, TeriAnn, the gospel according to Gillanders is preparation *and* a balancer: crack test or magnaflux check for pin wear hot tank, remove oil plugs, brush clean the oil passages shot peen grind and micropolish end-to-end balance chamfer oil holes to improve lube grind scroll area for lip seal Then consider adding the harmonic balancer (and the rest of that kit). One of Ken's "laws of racing" is: There is only one word for a racer who regularly exceeds 6500rpm with a stock crank and rods: BANG! >From this I infer that occasional excursions into the 6500 range will be livable, and your 6000 desire should be just fine. |
