The concern I'd be wary of is the fact that the TR-7 cylinder head
is aluminum and that is what the exhaust manifold/header is bolted
into.  If the interference with the frame is severe enough it could
cause enough stress on the manifold/header bolts to eventually
strip out of the aluminum head.  That's just theory on my part,
but not something I'd want to contend with.  

As to stiffer engine mounts solving the problem, it could just be
that your original engine mounts need to be replaced and the new ones
might provide better clearance.
