This talk about GT6 engines in a Spit 1500 has made me think of a
conversation I had the other day with some guys in the local
car club. They mentioned that the TR6 engine will fit straight into
a GT6 with no modification, and in fact, the earlier GT6's had
the 2.5 litre engine installed from BL. Anybody else know anything
about this?

As far as my GT6's comming along (I'm going to name her Tranch 2
as in tranchula; When my dad was my age he had a Mk 1 spit
named Tranch -- So I'm just sort of continuing the tradition): I've
bled the brakes a while ago and that helped alot, but when I was
bleeding them I noticed that the right rear wheel cylinder was
frozen (off to VicBrit to get a wheel cylender -- I just got it
yesterday). So while I'm waiting for the wheel cylender I decide
to tear out the seats & carpeting to see what the metal is like under
there. I bet you know what's comming up don't you :-) Well, the
pasenger side footwell, right under the rusted out batterybox, has
these two rust holes about the size of golf ball. There is also a
large number of small pin sized holes in the driver and passenger seat
areas.

I was figuring on just taking the car into a local shop to get the
holes cut out and welded. About how much will this cost? I have
no welding experience, so there's not much chance I'll be able to
rent equipment and do it myself... My dad had the idea that we could
clean up the metal and lay in fibreglass to strenghen the thin
areas, and perhaps cover the holes. Any comments?

Thanks!

Later,
  Martine
