Yes I have done this and it works great. No more run-on, and I can set
the idle correctly :) I don't have the problem with the idle dropping
off because of load up either. I set the jets at what they call for
statically and usually there or a little leaner works just great.
I had similar problems that Dan described, that was after I had done the
rebuild and it turned out to be a float that was full of petro. This did
not occur until 100 - 200 miles after the rebuild. The #1(fwd) carb was
running way too rich, and I could not adjust to lean it out. This
sounded to fishy to me. So I looked at other thing I adjusted the
regulator, checked the fuel filter, points, plugs, timing, etc...
The last resort was to pull the carb and check it. That was when I
discovered the full float. I went in there on the intention of adjusting
the float level, not to find a full float.
