Yup, the ceramic tape allows less heat to *escape* from the area that it covers, which means that more heat will radiate from the muffler and tailpipe. It also means that the internal temperature of the wrapped area will be higher. Apparently the smart move with wrapping headers is to leave the welds unwrapped; they're already high stress areas and the extra heat soak is hard on them. Or so I've heard. |
