I've been ignoring this discussion so far, mainly thinking it was
silly. But last night I finally saw the copy that goes with the
"limited edition" print ad.
It made me want to puke.
I've already got a British car that's trimmed to race for the glory of
Britain (well, Triumph, actually, since the color is named Triumph
Racing Green :-), so I wouldn't be interested in a BRG Miata (besides,
light colored interiors don't last). But I could see owning a Miata as
a low-maintenance fun car that I'd keep until it broke (or, better put,
I could see someone else owning it for that).
But the way they're trying to sell these cars, from the impertinent ad
copy to the disgusting dealer mark-up, would keep me from ever buying
one or recommending one.
Blech.
