By creating a newsgroup, you'll be just begging for the creation of
a "technical" mailing list for british cars, that will grab roughly
the same subscribers as this one. These things have a tendency to
go full circle (witness rec.auto.sport).

I realize mail volume is high, but newsgroups have the unsurmounted
ability to pull highly opinionated, self centered, low intelligence,
maternal fornicators out of the wooodwork to make sure that your
newsgroup has the bare minimum 30 posting per day (wait, the "auto"
appears in the newsgroup name, make that 60). Basically the people
who thought daddy bought them the sole phone connection to Mowog or
Colin Chapman, who aren't happy if they can't warm themselves by the
flame wars generated by their chosen pet-group-of-the-month, the kind
who've only even seen under the hood of their car in the reflection
in the station attendant's glasses but can instantly diagnose any and
all problems from a one line description on the net. The basic type
that wallows in the sheer volume of articles he generated in your
basic "is not"-"is too" discussion of how to twaddle your coil
shaft. The people that have to have heroes and villans and will
propose newsgroups like rec.autos.british.turner.suck.my.dick. That
special type of person that is positive that some piece of
discussion is pertinent to soc.women, alt.sex, rec.tv.star.trek,
alt.flame, and, of course, british cars. The not so special type
that knows it isn't pertinent to britsh cars, but threw it in for
good measure. The people who'll suck up the entire month long
discussion on whether left foot braking is the proper way to change
a spark plug.

I'd like to see the mailing list stay.
