Keep in mind that 746 watts per HP is assuming 100% efficiency.
Also, if you want to be cheap and still run air tools you can get a little
dinky compressor (I have seen it done with a $30 inflate-your-tyre-in-a-
half-hour type) and put a monstrous tank on it. You pump a 30 or 50 gallon
tank up to 200psi, run your air tools for a while, play with something else
for a while, run your sand blaster for a while, tune the carbs for a while,
run the sander for a while, blow your nose for a while, so on and so forth.
