Sorry I didn't respond earlier, but our mail link has been down.
I've heard it is possible to replace the rotoflex without removing
the hub by taking the metal band off the new rotoflex then easing
the (now slightly floppy donought) over the 'Y' prongs. The hard part
is in retensioning the donought to get the bolts through. G-Clamps are
supposed to work. Normally the metal band is left on until the bolts are
fixed.
Be warned, I haven't tried this method, just read it in the club magazine.
When my GT6 Mk II trashed a rear wheel bearing I obviously replaced the
rotoflex at the same time. However should you decide to split the hub,
be prepared to shell out for a replacement outer driveshaft. Seemingly
it is quite difficult to apply just enough pressure to pop the hub without
poping something else as well :-(
