I'm pretty sure I know what you're talking about. My friends 74 did the
same thing. I rebuilt the carb, and it still did it. It was like there
was a hole one of the tubes in the carb that was supposed to be plugged and
wasn't.
He finally sent it to a local carb shop, when he got it back, it was fine.
Don't know what they did, but it doesn't shoot gas streight up out of the
carb any more.
