Have experienced that "ripping growl" or, in my case, rip-roaring-horror as
a 400+ HP 327 spit a rod at around 6500 while I was sitting 15" ahead of it
with only a 1/4" fiberglass cover between me and it in a Crowm-conversion
Corvair.
Really exciting plus, it wasn't my car --- expensive trip to the market.
