Thank you for all the tips! The new Cannondale is staying at home on this
trip. I have made a special bed for it up in my room. Every day, I look at
pictures of her on the Internet, and I think to myself, "Soon, she will be
mine." Haven't thought of a name for her yet, but as you can see, I know
she's a female. She is black and sleak, just like Lucy. Right now, she's
still in the shop waiting for that last payment. I thought I'd be practical
and space out the payments, but I just can't take it anymore. Time to
exercise my American right to live in debt. Anyway, I mainly just wanted to
see if I could bring my trusty Trek 850 to avoid having to rent a car, but
bringing a bike on a plane is more trouble than it's worth, it seems. Thanks
to all who've responded.
By the way, I have received more information regarding road bikes on the
ba-autox list than anywhere else, and that is no lie! I had no idea
autocrossers come from such athletic backgrounds. Y'all are even cooler than
I thought!
Here's Kelly:
Planes REALLY need bike racks in the back. That's just my opinion. Just ride
your bike up to the gate, put your bike in the back, your backpack in the
overhead storage bin, and you are a self-sustained traveller. What this
world needs is better public transit (with bike racks), more bike paths,
bike racks on planes, and pubs serving the best beer on every street corner.
Gawd, this is really the key to world peace, I get all jittery thinking
about it, and I can't understand why I'm all alone in this thought.
If anyone needs a ride from the airport to Topeka Friday afternoon, I land
at 4:30 pm. I would be more than happy to fit in anyone else who needs a
ride. Furthermore, I leave for California a week from the following
Saturday. My flight's at 11ish, so I'll probably hit the road at 8, if
anyone needs a ride back.
