One of the keys is full tread Kumhos. People who have been to the Boeing lot
in Kent, WA have said (and I know they're right) that it likes them, and GGF
is a lot like that surface. New, full tread tires conform to the surface
irregularities, and stick better on that type of surface. A softer
suspension than you would run at a brushed concrete lot would help, too.
Don't get me started on Lucy... I've spun her on brushed concrete numerous
times as has Katie. I think that a well set up Miata is just "edgy." In
other words, it's very close to either pushing or going sideways at any
point. I find that they also don't seem to tell me what they are going to do
like other cars do. IMO, It takes incredible natural (and probably
subconscious) car feel (like Katie Kelly), or a long learning curve to drive
them fast. As far as GGF and Lucy getting sideways on power, remember that a
Miata being driven near 10/10ths is very close to doing something nasty, so
applying even the meager amount of power it has is going to try to spin an
inside rear tire. With or without LSD, if the inside rear gives up a little
traction, the outside is a little overloaded, and will try to step out...
