Well, those of you who didn't make it down to the San Bernadino Pro missed
out on a really fun weekend and some excellent weather! The caravan back
was absolutely hilarious, but I'll spare the guilty parties and not divulge
the details.... :)
Lots of friendly people, and a really excellent course that really made you
drive! Including a tight slalom section at the end that you couldn't
believe those big cars were making it through that fast! Some intense
competition -- A/Stock is looking to be exciting and there's plenty of
benefits to running Street Touring or Street Mod car!!!!!
I encourage _all_ of you to attend the Lemore Pro coming up at the end of
April! It will be a blast! I know it's a bit of a drive, but for you
south bay people it can't be much further than Sacramento and hooking up
with a caravan with TalkAbouts makes the drive seem short!
The new "Bonus Challenge" now officially dubbed the "Pathetic Loser"
challenge is a great way for those of us who aren't quick enough to qualify
for the regular challenge to match up head to head against someone from a
completely different class! And it's indexed off the time you ran so you
don't have a built in disadvantage like the open challenge!
And if you drive a Street Touring, etc. car you could possibly even make
some real money!!!
Local Results:
SS: Jim Martin couldn't find a good set of runs but looked quick all weekend.
AS: Andy ended up 2nd after leading after saturday? Teresa did all she
could in the Boxster but was losing too much on the launch.
CS: Derek won the class and finished 3rd in the open challenge... not too
far off being in the top eliminator round! Phil had a nice solid 4th, and
qualified for the "Pathetic Loser" challenge and got eliminated in the
first round by a guy who broke out by 1.3 seconds!! Katie never could
match up a pair of runs the whole weekend, but she's going to "kick ass" at
Lemoore she says!
GS: Kevin ruled in the Type R. Pete discovered just how difficult a BMW is
to put through short slaloms. Katie did well in ladies qualifying 2nd or
3rd for the ladies challenge?
F125: I drove completely mediocre the whole weekend and finished a solid
4th, quite a ways back from the pack. Super-sub Arie had an awesome final
run (finally let it all out) but clipped a cone. He was right with me all
weekend even though it was only his second time in the kart.
FJr: Elyse Mottaz had some huge improvement on her Sunday morning runs as
Pete did a little bit of "tuning" to her carbs.... I don't know where she
finished but I know she jumped up into the pack! Look for her to move fast
in the future!
All in all, a fun weekend, and I'm only slightly sun burnt (redneck!)... If
you're looking for the most intense and fun autocross experience (besides
DeAnza of course) you should check out the Pro in Lemoore!
