Yes, that is correct. But that was probably my worst performance since
1979. 8^) I had promised OJ that I would co-drive. I was in a major
cutover at work (hardware and software conversion of our business
applications). I left work Sunday night at 11:30 PM drove all night and
got to Topeka to walk course. Took phone calls all day and night, then
drove Tuesday and Wednesday to return to Houston leaving Wednesday at 11:30
AM after working the gate. To return to work at 6:00 AM Thursday. Not my
best performance in either venue.
My single regret it that I didn't do justice to the car and let OJ down. I
had beaten all the Houston BS drivers in several events prior to that. I
beat none of them at Nationals. I bought them all hats that say, "I beat
James at Nationals". Kinda like eating your words. 8^)
For those interested, the 968 is going up for sale. Two extra sets of
wheels, plus many extras. It only has 14K original miles. Driven mostly
on weekends.
