I still watch the list but don't run a car anymore. I still have an SSCA
membership
so I feel I can comment on this issue. I think one thing Hugh fails to
realize is this.
If you based entry into the Nationals on Divisional finishes, you would have
a very
strange Nationals. The last year I ran in 2001, I did a little research. I
was running
in CM. When I looked at the the entries at the Nats for 1997-2000 I found
that if
you were to take a map of the US and draw a radius of 300 miles around
Indianapolis Indiana you had about 70% of all the fields entries in the class.
If
you only allowed the top half of CM that fell in that circle to run at the
Nats. You would eliminate some very good drivers and cars. In some regions
CM(Just as an example)
has no cars running, in others like Cen-Div there are lots of cars in the
class.
The way the Nationals are now is how it should be. Bring what you got, and
do the
best you can.
