Well here's the skinny.

In February's Errors & Omissions they gave GT2 911's and 914's twin plug
heads. Well there's not much of a HP difference between single and
twin-plug, but the drivability difference is huge. Since my car is
driven to the events twin-plugging would be a nice touch.

So if GCR legal means FP by default do I have to go all the way to GCR
legal just to get this one item.

Wondering,
e

Nope, not quite a mirror. GCR was merely the starting point.

Of course the rules for GT1 are not quite the same as for GT5, never
mind Production.

These solo people seem to have the silly idea that just because
preparation rules were originally created for road racing cars they are
somehow unsuitable for solo. Actually they are quite suitable, just that
given a certain allowance you might go this way for a road-race
application and that way for a solo application, but it is still the
same rule. Any prep rule is basically arbitrary -- doesn't much matter
what the rule is only that there is a rule so limits are established
that define the car/category.

That said -- the Solo II Prep rules are mildly different from the GCR
GT/Production rules. IMHO, not so much that it makes a significant
difference. But there also is a paragraph in there somewhere that says
if yours is a GCR-legal car, it is therefore a Solo-legal car. The catch
is you have to be all one way or all the other, no taking the best from
each book and mixing them. My DP Solo car is really a dual-purpose GP
race car. I could care what the Solo II prep rules say. A long as I am
GCR-legal I'm good. You too if you like the GT rules better.
