Oh my. This was similar to my scenario last week. I flew in and
drove a rental turd when I wasn't driving Scot Zediker's CS Miata. Then
shtuff hit the fan. I was really concerned that I would have to drive the
turd back to Texas and pay whatever fines Alamo threw at me. At least I
had unlimited mileage. :-) Luckily, I was able to fly home on Saturday
with no delays/hassles at all.
BTW, I never feared that Scot and his bride would have to leave
town. Scot really was gunning for a good time in Topeka. Going to the
Blind Tiger was a good start. :-)
I doubt anyone would have a problem finding a seat in another
car. More than a few people hop into different cars through the week or
even during the heat they're running in.
What a long strange trip it's been.
