FWIW, I ran a similar event last year at Heartland Park Topekas road course
and I swear to you that there was less wear from 2 hours of on-track time
than from a single 4-run autocross on a grippy concrete surface. You won't
generate nearly the same level of sliding, pushing, plowing, oversteering,
etc on the track (at least you'd better not) as you would at an autocross.
>From everything I've been told road race tires usually die from too many
heat cycles before they physically wear out.
I'm gonna do several more of these track-day events this year and for the
life of me I can't remember what pressures to run in the Kumhos under a
2600# (without driver) Neon. (Yes, it's a real porker for a Neon.) I seem
to remember somewhere around 38psi cold but am not sure.

I've recently been turned on to some open-track events (street cars, racing
around a track wheel-to-wheel, restricted passing zones, etc). I ahve a
honda CRX which i would like to track. I have some Kumho Victoracer v700s
which i would like to race on...would 20mins of road racing destroy these
tires REALLY fast? There's suppose to be 3-20 min sessions and i'm planning
on doing it for one day...but, i'd like to TRY to have some tread left to
autoX on them afterwards, but, it's not a necessity.
So, will these tires work or should i get another set of tires for that?
