Although I've never run any thing but local events I am a believer in
awarding trophies to the top 3 finishers. These are the best men and
women of the meet. All competitors could be given something like a dash
plaque that they can display were ever and how ever they like. This is
don at many car shows and other get together and it does not dilute ones
participation. What does dilute the event IMHO is having people leave an
awards presentation because it just takes to long. Thank the Lord we
don't have to play each winners state song.
