You know, Jeff has made me see the light. If we have enough
(O+L) 12 car classes, we can all be champions. So let's begin
the list for the new national classes we will create:
-SM 2 & 3
-Legends
-Miata1.6 (oops - got this already)
-Miata 1.8 (nonR)
-Senior Cart
-OSP
-Parallel the whole Stock Category with Street Tire classes
(NCCC has done this, btw)
-STS 2 & 3

The proposal is NOT to do away with cars with less than 20 entries at
Nationals, for the 4th time.
It was to increase the number listed in 4.7, currently 12. This number
reflects the combined entry of the Open & Ladies class, over a period
of two years,
For the 4th time: this number may have been fine when we had 5-600
car fields at the Nationals, but not 1100. As currently written, it
leads
to fragmentation of entries and diminishes competition.
If we have 1500 entries at a Nationals, is a class with 8 in the Open
and 4 in the Ladies a viable entity?
This proposal has NOTHING to do with Regional Events. You can run ANY
class you wish, as long as it it safe,
Is adding 12 classes since 1998, getting to the level YOU are
comfortable with, an ok process for the NEXT three years?

CH>I don't see the big problem with the classes we have now. I do think that
CH>some of the new classes have popped up with out going through the proper
CH>channel. SM, F125, come to mind they are not bad things but it seems that
CH>they just appear overnight. I think SM will be interesting...I will be
CH>amazed if over the next 2 or 3 years someone does not open the money flood
CH>gates and create a class killer. I don't know exactly what it will be but
CH>their are potentials out there. (A Subaru world rally car comes to mind)
CH>To propose that classes with 20 or fewer people at nationals be done away
CH>with, (IMO) was about the...(mom always said if it isn't nice don't say
CH>it)... thing I have heard in some time. The vast majority of regional
CH>events total 30 to 50 competitors for the entire event. With only 3 or 4
CH>to a class...with this in mind rolling into Topeka and running against 18
CH>or 20 others in your class, that arrived from all parts of the country is a
CH>big deal. If you do away with all of those that are 20 or less we will
CH>only have like one prepared class and one 2 mod classes. IMO a real
CH>backwards step for the sport. I suppose we could combine AM BM into CM.
CH>We will just make the BM guys put in 300 pounds of ballast, and the AM
CH>people have to take off the wings and add 200 pounds. Or let CM run wings
CH>and Cosworth heads, or maybe make the AM cars run snow tires. We can put
CH>DM and EM together they are fairly close already. (No kevlar bodies though)
CH> And we could then put FM and F125 together but the f125s all have to carry
CH>a live pig around in their laps for extra weight. (about 265lb) In the
CH>prepared ranks I say why not determine the surviving class with a demo
CH>derby...The last cars running keep their class. My money is on the 3000lb
CH>ponies.
CH>While I'm at it, street tire classes seem good too...but how many are
CH>spending money on chemicals to doctor tires and such? If it aint being
CH>done now, it will be.
CH>It always seems to me that we make these things really hard. I just want
CH>to have fun, and I am doing that!!
