For those of you who may be storing a car for the winter, or next season,
storing a winter car for the summer, might I suggest adding DCON mice killer
to your list of items to use for car storage?
Since this year I drive and autocross a 93 MR2, and MR2's make
crappy winter cars, I kept my VW Scirocco that I drove and autocrossed last
year figuring I would use it as a winter car. I stored it for the summer at
one of those Public Storage places. I went to pick the car up this weekend
and it started right up. All looked good except for a flashing oil pressure
light. This was due to a frayed wire going to the oil pressure sensor. Hmm,
looks like something was chewing on the wire. With that fixed, I let the car
warm up.
Man this car really smells inside. Smells like ..... urine ..... Oh
God no. No No NO NO. It cant be.... MICE !!!! OK where are they? The
underside of the seats are a mess, mice feces everywhere, much seat padding
missing. More mess on the back floor. Hmmm, why is there smoke coming from
the defroster vents? Oh God, they're in the heat vents!!!! Suddenly my wife
screams, "A mouse just ran out from by the engine". Ah ha that where they
are!!! 2 mice, and their family all nested snuggly in my
heat/air-conditioning air intake and the whole vent system.
Well, to make a long story short, the mice are still in there
despite my 2 hour efforts to get them to vacate. Once I would chase one out,
the other would use the opportunity to go back in. To hell with this I say,
"Hello, State Farm?"
John "Damn I hate mice" Moore
P.S. I now have the only MR2 in existence that is stored for the winter
surrounded by an impenetrable ring of DCON!!!!
