It's a joke, as some have pointed out. The regular appearance of
the same kinds of cars is no accident. That means the joke is on
you if you like one of the cars they list for you. ;-) If you
drove a big car, they would say you needed to drive a sporty AMC
Pacer, not a Viper or Corvette. The point is to collect lots of
demographic data for the Car Talk advertisers.

I was amused to see the Buick Roadmaster on my list because the
car I was stuck with in driver's ed was an Olds VistaCruiser
station wagon. After learning to parallel park that, I could
park anything anywhere. Also amused to have the ubiquitous Dodge
Colt Vista on my list, since near as I could tell after trying to
find out what it is, it appears to be similar to the Chevy Vega
Wagon that was my first car. Don't recall what else was on my
list. The Miata newsgroup did this same exercise months ago.
