Why, exactly, is it that road racing cars do NOT use the widest tire that can be squeezed onto the rim like us autocrossers? Is it the wheel + tire weight issue? What about the "slop" factor (the sidewall bowing out) vs cornering contact patch? FYI, it is on a heavy, essentially FWD car with 6.5" rims. I am getting opinions on 245 vs 225 width tires (235 is not an option). TIA, Daniel Ledford |
