Excellent question! My personal opinion says that there is no single
correct anwser here. Most of the basic fundementals will be learned the
same no matter what you choose, however my experience has shown me that
different people are fastest in certain vehicles once they get some
experience. Some cars just seem to "fit" them. Most hot-shoes running
Nationally competitive are basically very fast in anything you put them
in, what I'm talking about is getting the highest level of your personal
performance. I've seen top drivers in small prepared rear drive cars go
slow in Stock class front drivers. I've seen O.K. stock class drivers
all of a sudden get real fast in an SP car. Finding the correct
car/driver combination is the key to success. To that end, I say if you
are a novice, beg, borrow or steal a drive in anything you can get your
hands on.

IMHO of course.
