I've been saying since 1986 that common brake/turn filaments should be
outlawed. Why did we add a third light, rather than at least
requiring that all cars have two, even when they're signalling?
As I pointed out a few minutes ago, there are other benefits to the
CHMSL, but still, I can't come up with a reason why any safety-
conscious automaker, particularly one who pays attention to accident
statistics, would continue to manufacture cars this way. I know it's
cheaper to manufacture, but they could call this a "new safety
innovation!"
