I was one of the miatae 'all those years ago' - Jay is right - it's the
pieces involved, not the end result in ride height - as quoted in the rule
book the last few years. Even if the factory manual had a lower limit on
ride height - If you could put a stock shock on in place of your trick
hydraulic koni, and meet the stock spec - you would be legal (just need to
carry around some stock shocks)
On the miata, and I think the DSM cars too, there is no ride height
dimension, just spring dimensions. All the other suspension pieces have to
be in factory spec - DO NOT assume that the car gets delivered that way,
you may get surprised. If you are serious - not necessarily about winning
- but about keeping your trophy, check everything when you have it part,
and maybe again before nationals.
