Oh yes, sometimes I can be sitting at a stoplight and see a Neon on each
corner of the intersection. Other days I don't see any. It makes me
proud to see so many other people driving them but on the other hand
most of those people only bought them because they were cheap and frugal
with gas. Oh wait, so did I. Along with the handling capabilities of
course. When I bought my car I also test drove a lot of other cars in
the same price range (CHEAP) and hands down the best performer was the
Neon. Beat the pants off of the Saturns, ZX2s, Cavaliers, Sunfires,
Grand-Ams, Civics, Corollas, Hyundais, Proteges, base Integras (only one
near the same price) and a few other brands that I can't remember right
now.

You're right though, only a true Neon enthusiast can tell the difference
between the base grocery getters and the fast, well handling grocery
getter versions. ;^) That's part of the "sleeper" capability of the
Neon. It catches MANY pony car drivers off guard and really makes them
work if they wanna win the stoplight to stoplight challenges. Now I'm
not saying that it can beat every car out there, far from it. But in
it's price range it does quite well.

Aside from the ///M cars and the different platforms I can't tell a damn
323 from a 328 or a 535 from a 540 or a 735 from a 740 or a 750
or..............don't even get me started on the models from the 80's.
They ALL look alike to me. ;^)

And lay off the "gawdawful" stripes, my car's ego is fairly fragile.
It's just a less subtle version of the ///M badging that so many non-M
Bimmers are sporting.

No I didn't take this personally, I just felt chatty.

See you on course.

Straining the limits of machine and man.
Laughing out loud with fear and hope
I've got a desperate plan.
