No, you're still nearsighted. But you are losing the ability to change

I have two cures for working in the shop:
Lots of light. Paint everything in the garage white. As the environment
gets lighter, your irises close and the smaller pupil gives you more depth
of field.
Polycarbonate safety glasses ground to reading prescription. These are of
course weaker than the glasses I use for distance. So I have my
side-shields on to protect my aging eyes from flying pieces, and correction
for astigmatism and the fact that my
eyes are not the same focal length as each other. I still can take them off
to read my vernier caliper... Downside? I need to find my regular glasses
to see to sweep the floor.
