A lot of the respondants to my inside edge tire wear question seem to
think that the large amount of negative camber that I have dialed in
(about 1.8 degrees) is probably the main reason for the inside edges
wearing faster than the outside edges. Actually for Neons this is not a
lot of negative camber but compared to other camber-challenged cars I
guess that it can be considered a lot.
So........how can I equalize the wear? Drive harder and wear the outer
edge out faster? Less tire pressure to give the outside edge more
"bite"? Turn the tires around on the wheel and wear the "other" inside
edge? What?
And Mike, I don't need a pyrometer, I have two hands that can feel the
heat on the tires just fine. From everything that I've read we
autocrossers are never gonna have perfectly equal temps across the tread
surface since we basically toss the car every possible direction. But I
can tell when one edge is noticably warmer than the other and adjust the
tire pressure to sorta equalize them.
Thanks in advance.
See you on course.
