Depends upon the Lotus. Any Lotus sold by Lotus in the USA since 1975, (The
Esprit, Elite, Eclat) can take a hit with the best of them. They are
extremely crashworthy.

How about recently? Classing decisions should not be based on ancient
history when recent history says otherwise.
