Rev limiter on Eclipse GS-X?

I test drove a '95 GS-X yesterday and got about 250 RPM past red line without
hitting a rev limiter.  Is there one on these cars?  Salesman said there 
isn't, I think he doesn't know the answers to the hard questions...
