By a "big" car I meant a wide one, like my GS Camaro, or a Corvette, but, of
course a Sp2000 is pretty wide, too. Wheelbases...I haven't measured any lately.
BTW, my favorite car is very skinny, and very nimble, not the Camaro (tho that
is a lot of fun, in a lumbering sort of way). In spite of its nimbleness, I
still don't like to see courses that only it can do well at, and I'm sure no one
else does either...but if you want to hand my car a win with a skinny course, go
ahead. :-) The other drivers of mostly wider, tho stronger cars, would probably
have a mental problem with the fairness aspect.
In fact, there are several classes where "big" cars are classed with
"smaller" cars. Take BSP, as a matter of fact. The 240Z, I believe is narrower
and shorter than any Corvettes in the same class. In AP, the 240Zs are wider
than the Lotuses. A course that favors a skinnier car is grossly unfair to the
wider car. Duh!
Yet, even at national I've driven courses where the wide car has to shift
its weight more to get through than a skinny car, thus scrub off a little speed
here and there. Not right, in my opinion.
