Fast first run

Has anyone ever (or anyone else) had this problem I typically seem to have? I
come to an autox walk the course and get the path down easily. Then the first
run, I rip off a very comptitive time. Runs 2-4 either seem to get progressively
slower or little or no improvement (several events last year I'd end up with my
first run being the fastest by a god ammount) Sometimes I'd be able to break
this pattern, most times not.

I realize that what I'm probably doing is overdriving the car in the subsequent
runs, and from talking to other (and better) drivers that they feel I'm getting
quite bit out of the car - not leaving much on the table. The question is how to
best fix this? I wonder if I'm trying to hard to improve on EVERY corner vs.
just picking one or two and concentrating on those?

Anyone else run into this and got out of it?

Cheers,

Mike
