Intimidating numbers, I don't think it's applicable. I don't think that
the ABS action (or more accurately: reaction) necessarily results in the
least braking distance. More control in a panic situation for an
inexperienced driver for darn sure, but less distance in a controlled
situation?

Instead of the 1/50 of a second "on" switch/ "off" switch modulation
that is reactionary to sensor inputs, good old fashioned seat-o-the
pants feel will make for shorter and more controlled deceleration IMO.
(Again, in this theoretically controlled condition) Dancing along the
threshold line, and maintaining that minimal but effective and
controlled wheel slip by feel and sound is something no machine will
ever do graciously. No fun either! I think I get more satisfaction
from a properly executed maximum decel than any other single autocross
maneuver. Call me goofy, but isn't max G reached under braking in a
typical AX car?

BTW, (and I can't resist this!!!) have you noticed that some Old Fartz'
ABS systems seem to slow down a bit as time marches on? Like something
on the order of one cycle every 2.46 seconds in some extreme cases?
(You know who you are! It's only a joke!) :) :) :)
