My suggestion would to put a Series I tank on the car. They do not have that
nasty relief valve and use a real radiator cap. I might have an extra one.

My overflow bottle does have a breather hole in the top.
The SII cars have a tank the sits in front of the valve cover. It has a cap
in the center and a fitting to the right. The fitting has a hose that spews
coolant when to car is hot (this hose now goes to the bottle). I have been
told that this fitting is a pressure relief valve. Originally the cars came
with a cap that had no mechanical means for releasing pressure.
I have a regular cap (9 or 13 psi) on the car. Maybe my problem is that the
cap is allowing air to enter the system as the car cools. It does this
before the pressure valve can suck the expelled coolant back in. I think I
have an original cap in my parts bin. I will test this.
In the mean time more input is welcome.
