Good advice Jim. Most of us who have had Alpines for a while have been
victimized by the paint flakes. I use a fuel filter in line between the
tanks and the fuel pump. By using the in line filter it is easy to keep the
pump and the carbs from flaking up.

Joe,
Remove your fuel pump (glass) bowl, and see if there are any little
black
specs settled in the pump. You may have a fuel delivery problem, and our
fuel tanks are a notorious cause. They were painted by the factory, but the
paint's lifespan is over, and it flakes off and is sucked into the fuel
line,
partially or completely blocking it. It may have reached your carburetors
as
well, blocking a high-speed jet or even a float needle and seat.
