Hi fellow 6-Packers and happy holiday season to you all!!
A few weeks back I discovered that the factory-original OE mechanical fuel =
pump on my TR6 was leaking fuel into the crank case - not a good situation!=
=C2=A0 I bought a rebuild kit but was shocked to learn that the ONE seal wh=
ich isn't included/available is the crucial one which seals the "fuel strea=
m" (that is, the part of the pump through which fuel passes) from the crank=
case. =C2=A0
So, I then bought one of the "OE reproduction" pumps from Moss.=C2=A0 Looke=
d very nice, has the manual priming lever, etc.=C2=A0 I fitted it to the ca=
r, took it for a drive, and thought "great, another job completed".=C2=A0 A=
few hours later I went into the garage and was hit with the strong smell o=
f gasoline.=C2=A0 The BRAND NEW pump was leaking from the top cover, result=
ing in a big puddle of fuel under the car.=C2=A0 I've also determined that =
the manually priming lever doesn't function!!=C2=A0 Needless to say, the ne=
w pump is going in the trash.
Question for all of you - can you recommend a company who does high-quality=
work rebuilding our OE mechanical fuel pumps?=C2=A0 I'm not interested in =
buying another reproduction from Moss.=C2=A0 I want to get my factory-origi=
nal pump rebuilt and hopefully have it last another 50 years!!
Regards,Tim Holbrook1971 TR6
